Adam Villacin Art Exhibition—Opening Gala FEB 8
The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Joshua Tree Gallery of Contemporary Art (JTGOCA) will open its newest exhibition, I WAS HANDSOME, I WAS STRONG, I KNEW THE WORDS OF EVERY SONG—an Adam Villacin Retrospective Exhibition, with a free public gala on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 6:30-9+pm.
Adam Villacin is a Los Angeles-born artist based in Yucca Valley, CA. Influenced by late 20th-century illustration and subcultural signifiers, his work explores contemporary iconography and hagiography with sharp, wry humor. Through fine art and mixed media, he examines connections within recent history and hidden narratives, challenging traditional interpretations. His portraits, collages, handmade poster art, and underground zine aesthetics offer a fresh perspective on music, pop culture, and celebrity personas. This exhibition marks his first solo exhibition in eight years, showcasing a compelling body of work, much of which has never been shown before.
The new exhibition will remain open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm through March 31, 2025.
